The posts on the right-hand side of the main page were written by students in an ESL immersion class at Bronx Community College. Together with Audrey Short, their teacher, I’ve been teaching them how to blog.
First I introduced the students to Blogger, the popular blogging platform. Then I gave them assignments to introduce them to the world of blogging. They’ve been asked to do what many bloggers do: search for blog posts on Technorati.com, link to other bloggers, and discuss cultural topics like music, sports, and politics.
After the students post on their individual blog, their posts are collected on this site. Excerpts from each post are featured on the home page; click the title to read the entire post. To view the students’ individual blogs, click on the links at the bottom of each post. You will be taken to that student’s blog.
