Profiles of New Media Superstars

Picture 4

The New Media Literacies project is a very cool new effort to teach K-12 students about new media technologies. It’s the first time I’ve seen such a structured, forward-thinking approach to teaching this kind of literacy — how to use wikis, what blogging is, interactivity, etc. — to kids. They’re producing short biographies of new media personalities, and Cory Doctorow, the science fiction novelist who blogs for Boing Boing and does a million other things, is one of their first subjects. Check out the short bit about him, and download the materials — they could be seeds of a new literacy curriculum.
