For some reason I’m really proud of this one

I like to think this makes me look beefier than I actually am, like a grizzly bear who’s just come in out of the woods to fry up some onions and tempeh.

Wow, we finally did it

From Reuters:
The death of an army sergeant pushed the U.S. military death toll in Iraq to the landmark figure of 2,000 on Tuesday, but President George W. Bush warned more sacrifices were needed before U.S. troops could come home.
Quite an accomplishment. Georgie’s reaction? Now it’s time to sacrifice.

My nano has a booboo. Are you serious?

We are fighting the good fight. Injustice is occurring everywhere and we must take a stand. We have a right to a scratchless iPod nano.
Are there really no better fights to fight than this one, a class-action suit against Apple for not making their iPod nano sufficiently scratch-proof?  The fact that this suit [...]

We want to social network; Bill Gates wants to save the world

I’ve written before about the dangers of cynicism and the need for optimism when thinking about the future of any idea, in this case the possibility of a free-er Internet and a re-thinking of how information is owned and communicated.

Is this web thing happening?

So there’s been all of this hype (most likely unknown to most people) about what is being called Web 2.0. It’s a geeky name for a geeky idea about the Internet community recovering from the burst bubble of 2000 and figuring out new ways to exist. A lot of it has to do [...]

Is Georgie evil? Round three

Ethan Zuckerman wrote a really good post today about his meet-up with a Georgie supporter. Ethan’s willingness, and desire, to get to know the “other side” is a quality I wish more so-called liberals have. Too many of us are far too comfortable in our beliefs and spend more moralizing than actually wondering [...]

I’m not alone

I think people think I hate Apple because I dare to take a skeptical look at their offerings and question whether their intense, uncritical commercialism is a good thing. But Jack Shafer on Slate also sees this as the press giving out free kisses to any and every Apple product introduced to the market. [...]
